Storm damage

It is now just over three weeks since Storm Eowyn hit our shores and Helensburgh was certainly one of the areas that got the brunt of the strong winds. At M & T Builders Merchants we decided to get into the branch as early as possible on the Friday, make sure everything was a safe and secure as we could make it and get everyone home for the safety of our staff and customers.

As the day went on the winds got stronger and videos were starting to be shared on social media of damage that was happening in the area. Footage of the seafront leisure centre roof being blown off was played repeatedly on news bulletins all over the country in the days that followed. The town suffered from fallen trees, closed roads, flooding and a huge amount of debris.

Damage to households included roofing, fencing, furniture and of course flying trampolines.

It has been a busy few weeks for us here at M & T Builders Merchants since we opened back up on the Saturday morning. As would be expected roof tiles and ridging were in high demand. After this storm we have noticed there was far more damage to fences than any previous.

Our online store has a large amount of materials that have been needed in the last few weeks to order online for delivery or collection.
